When they said “blood on the streets”…

…I didn’t quite expect this.

Red shirted protesters carry bottles of blood to protest site

Thousands of red-shirted supporters of exiled former Prime Minster Thaksin Shinawatra, have each donated blood, which has been collected in bottles all day, and now poured at the gates of Government House.

Blood poured at a gate of Government House, Bangkok, Thailand

  • Protesters received free Ovaltine in return for giving blood
  • Authorities have firefighting trucks & disinfectant ready
  • Brahmin rite was performed before the blood-pouring, to curse the elites in power – “enemies to democracy”
  • Thai stock index gains 17.37 points – 2.36%

Truth is stranger than fiction…

  1. This is craziness. Thais are looking pretty insane with this action. Makes me sick just to see it.
Are you home now for all of this? Or still is OZ?
    Take care.

  2. Got back early yesterday, but this is of course all happening a comfortable distance away from my place.

They moved on to the Democrat Party HQ to pour more blood there, and say they’ll do the same at the Prime Minister’s residence tomorrow, which is a bit closer but still a good few blocks away.

Numbers are apparently thinning out though, lots of protesters have already gone back home. Hopefully we won’t see any involuntary blood spilt!
