My Mac Mini finally arrived. I’m slightly confused by some aspects, and in awe of others.
Review soon, if I can find the time!

they are a lovely machine, i hardly use my pc at home at all now…
…my powerbook has been switched on for over 60 days :) only rebooted for the OS updates from apple…
…what is it ur puzzled by?
Is it wise to have a laptop powered on for that long?
Just puzzled by differences really. Safari isn’t Firefox, QuickTime isn’t Media Player Classic, and Darwin isn’t Linux. Puzzled as to the Right Way to set up permanent network drives…
I’ll work it out, I’m sure :)
Where’s the keyboard?
On my desk :)
Happy to know it arrived. I’m excited to be getting my powerbook in a few weeks. So excited in fact that I bought myself the airport hub yesterday because i wanted to read the instructions for it during my taxi ride. Can’t use it for 3 more weeks though :(
Is it wise?
not noticed any problems, i usually run it connected to a monitor and external keyboard etc,
it may lower the battery life, but i’ve had it for over a year and when i do run it as a ‘laptop’ still get 2+ hours for average use.
bin safari, install firefox. :) this may help the safari thing http://www.pimpmysafari.com/
quicktime is WAY better than media player, specially the pro version…
you’ll be wanting the divx codec for osx (google it…) – u can still get Media player from M$ for OSX
darwin not linux? hmmm, some differences in filesystem, but essentially works the same… (but then i’m a *nix noob so i may not notice anything ‘subtle’)
incidentally if you’re thinking of using the MM as a media centre you may want to check this out
