I’m about to buy a 1.4GHz Mac Mini with the Superdrive option. It’s going to cost me £499 from the UK Apple Store. If I were in America, I’d get exactly the same box for $699 USD, or £394.97. I wonder how much it would cost to ship one across from the States. I bet it would be less than £104…
But the £499 will include 17.5% VAT, whereas the $699 will be without sales tax (which you’d have to pay in any state where Apple has a retail store). So really you should compare the $699 with £425 – still not great, but a much smaller difference.
If you want a real rip-off, look at the video pricing on the Apple store. $1.99 in the US, £1.89 ($3.34) in the UK!
Good point – and I’d also have to buy a UK power supply, and I’m sure there’d be warranty issues.
Still annoying though – it’s not as if they’re made in America…
and import duty…

All right, all right! Apart from Sales Tax, a UK PSU, Shipping Costs and Import Tax…
