The Bluetones

Bluetones

I was away and offline all weekend, gone to spend a few days in Derby, a town which was once home.

As you can see, we had a pretty good view at the gig – we went to the Supanova club to see The Bluetones, supported by Emma Rohan and The Daybreak.

The support bands were surprisingly good, but I felt a little sorry for the main act, excellent as they were. It must be a galling experience to sing your heart out to your latest and greatest material, to be met only with weak applause and shouts for the radio-friendly single you released a decade ago.

Still, a tight performance and some amusing banter from singer Mark Morriss made for an enjoyable (if deafening) evening.

Setlist:
Bluetonic
Solomon Bites The Worm
Big Problem
String Along
Keep The Home Fires Burning
One Speed Gearbox
Liquid Lips
Fast Boy
Cut Some Rug
Persuasion
You’re No Fun Anymore
The Bluetones Big Score
Never Going Nowhere
Slight Return
Turn It Up

Encore:
Are You Blue?
Between Clark & Hilldale
If…
