I Have

Home Sweet Home

In the past thirty-three hours, I have:

  • Not slept a wink
  • Travelled over six thousand miles
  • Replaced air conditioning with a log fire
  • Upgraded the blog to WordPress 1.5, disabling all but one of the plugins
  • Completed the Thailand 2005 Gallery (apologies for the big yellow timestamps on some photos, these are from Martin’s camera)
  • Added some JavaScript to disable Google’s evil new Autolink feature. Thanks Jim for mentioning it – I’d missed it completely

Now, I think I might sleep.

Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing

We just got back from the island of Koh Sichang. More photos are on display in the Thailand 2005 gallery, now also in vaguely chronological order.

See You In Siam

She laughs. “See you in Siam“, she calls, as I jump into the taxi, and am finally whisked away.

I’m going back to Thailand for a couple of weeks. Bye for now.

Back to Life

Okay, perhaps I underestimated how much I need my computer.

I ordered a replacement 80Gb hard drive from dabs.com yesterday, paid just over £40 (including the extra fee for next-day delivery), and it arrived on my desk this afternoon.

I remember paying more than £200, and waiting weeks for my first ever hard drive to arrive. It was a 340Mb drive, for my Amiga 1200. Now that’s going back a while.

I only complained about the hassle of reinstalling Windows last week, and now I’m having to do it again. Instant karma?

General Failure

Who is ‘General Failure’ and why is he reading my hard disk?

The old joke is rather less funny this evening, since my hard drive is currently doing a passable impression of a washing machine full of rusty nails. I’m only able to post this entry because of the godsend that is Knoppix.

I fly to Thailand on Saturday, and I doubt I’ll be buying a new hard drive before then. So apologies in advance for what I guess will be a severe lack of entries this week…
